Uckfield arrest after ‘distressing’ racial incident at Victoria Pleasure Ground

A 57-year-old man has been arrested by Sussex Police on suspicion of racially aggravated harassment.

He was interviewed and released on bail until June 13 while inquiries continue.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident on Sunday (May 29) in which a man was reported to have racially abused, insulted and intimidated a woman at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds.

A man was reported to have abused and insulted the 46-year old woman, who is not known to him, as she was walking to her car and again as she was driving away.

The incident is said to have taken place between 6pm and 6.30pm.

PC Dave Brown said: “This was a most distressing experience for the woman and we want to hear from anyone else who saw what happened or saw this man shouting in the park.”
