Uckfield Age Concern desperately needs help managing transport service

Uckfield and District Age Concern desperately needs volunteers to join its committee and help keep a free transport service going for about 70 elderly people.Ac_logo_pms

The charity needs six members on its committee but is currently down to three and they are struggling to cope, according to chairman Ian Jaffray.

He said they need somebody who could work from home for one or two hours a week taking calls from the public and transferring that call to one of the volunteer drivers.

The charity has eight volunteer drivers who take people to hospital, doctors or dentists.

Mr Jaffray told Uckfield News: “If we don’t recruit one or two committee members soon  I am worried that we will not be able to continue the service.”

If you would like to help please call Mr Jaffray on 01825 712481.
