As a resident of Uckfield since 2012 I frequently read Uckfield News. A great resource for local information.
In response to the coverage of the high street improvements I thought you may be interested to hear a positive point of view from a resident that sees the improvements as progressive. I am aware there has been a huge amount of negative coverage and protest.
As a resident with two young children I frequently visit the town centre. Before the improvements took place I often found these visits quite depressing and uninspiring. There seemed little effort made to make shopping in Uckfield an enjoyable experience.
Now the new wider pavements and roads are in place the town is a space I want to visit, not just to quickly park up and dash to one shop, but to mingle, chat to friends and wonder around the shops.
I believe the negative mentality easily spreads and stops people seeing what a great change has taken place. If Uckfield continues to improve more people will visit the town for a positive shopping experience.
Thank goodness the patchy dowdy pavements have gone and been replaces with a lighter characterful alternative. It would be great for the people of Uckfield that love the new high street to have their say. Many thanks for your time.
