Two die in crash at Cross in Hand

Two people died following a crash on the B2102 at Cross in Hand last night, according to police.

They were called to a collision between a Ford KA and a Fiat car at 8.50pm.

The driver of the Ford, a 19-year-old woman from Heathfield, died at the scene and the driver of the Fiat, who is believed to be in his 50s, died later at  Royal Sussex County Hospital. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

The road was closed throughout the night and forensic investigation work was under way this morning.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “We would like to thank motorists and local residents for their patience and understanding while we continue to investigate the cause of this collision which sadly ended in the deaths of two people.”

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting Operation Walland or by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk.

Police said more details about the people involved in the accident would be released as they become known.
