Tree blocking Hempstead Meadow boardwalk removed

A fallen tree which was blocking the footpath across Hempstead Meadows Local Nature Reserve has been removed.

The clearance was carried out by Uckfield Town Council staff.

Our original story

A tree has fallen on to the boardwalk at Hempstead Meadow Nature Reserve, Uckfield, blocking the route through to town between the Hempstead Road Playing Field and Waitrose car park.

Thanks to Heather Park for the picture below. She turned round when she reached the tree. “I think with the wet weather it would be risky to try clambering over it, but some people might manage it.”

Heather plans to report the tree fall to Uckfield Town Council.
