Bracelets, scarves and Marmalade candles new at Josefina
Marmalade candles and room diffusers are new at Josefina and come in a variety of fragrances. Also new are pretty bracelets in a range of colours and styles and scarves which are proving popular with people about to go on holiday and plan to wear them over swim suits.
Two successful workshops were held at the Josefina classroom at Piltdown last month, one on furniure painting and the other on make-up.
Next to be organised will be lampshade-making possibly in June.
Chestnut Tree charity shop is ready for summer
Summer stock is out on the rails at the Chestnut Tree children’s hospice charity shop and you are welcome to call in and browse.
Quirky dog bench sells quickly at SG Home Interiors
A quirky five foot long sausage dog bench sold quickly after arrival at SG Home Interiors. Hot on its heels was a bulldog and all that remained in the set last week was a pig. More are on order but they are unlikely to arrive until July.
In the meantime there’s plenty more new stock arriving at the shop in Bell Lane, including garden furniture in metal antique, and fresh displays of made to measure sofas, and painted furniture. New bathroom displays can be seen too.
Citronella and other garden candles, along with tealight holders, are available, and there are lots more accessories to browse.
Discounts on lawnmowers at PP Estates
PP Estates on the Bellbrook Estate are offering discounts during May of 15% off the retail price of Hayter lawnmowers, across the range, and 15% off Westwood garden tractors.
More than 60 styles of flip flops at PipeDreams
PipeDreams is ready for summer with more than 60 styles of flip flops available including Havaianas, Reef, Roxy, Quiksilver and Animal.
There are wet suits and swimwear too, and summer clothing.
New artworks at Diane Hutt Gallery
There are new artworks at the Diane Hutt Gallery including an ostrich which is attracting a lot of attention in the window by Amy Louise and called He’s looking at you kid.
There are also bluebells from Steve McLoughlin and two new London views from Tom Butler, Raring to Glow and Silver City.
Floral prints on trend this summer at Chapter Three
Pretty summer clothes are available at Chapter Three. Owner Kay Bevan says there are lots of floral prints, which are on trend this year, a lot of linen and dresses, skirts and tops to choose from.
A high summer delivery from Postcard is expected too.
Aeroplanes and princesses – most popular choices for pottery painting
Jane DeVay is always looking for new items of pottery to be painted at Kilnwood Studio in Uckfield and at the moment it is aeroplanes and princesses that are attracting the most attention.
Also popular are a fox and a dragon. Jane says that whatever your interest you will find something to enjoy painting there, and if you have a special request she will do her best to track down a piece for you.
Sunglasses available now at Kamsons
There’s plenty of choice in sunglasses for men and women at Kamsons Pharmacy in Uckfield High Street.
And, as we hope for warmer weather, summer colours have arrived in Marvala nail polish and a nail clinic is to be held at the pharmacy on May 25.
Slots will be available throughout the day for appointments to be booked and each person attending will be offered a manicure.
A deposit of £15 is payable and redeemable on the day against Marvala products.
Deck shoes and T-shirts at Cole’s menswear
Summer stock is on display at Cole’s menswear in Uckfield High Street and includes T-shirts, polo shirts, shorts and deck shoes.
Displays take shape at Fluffy Side Up
New display stands have been brought into the new Fluffy Side Up carpet shop in Uckfield High Street and more are to come as the layout takes shape.
Sebastian Bishop who moved his business into the shop in March said he was delighted with the welcome he had been given. “Everyone seems pleased to see the shop,” he said.

Peonies and stocks which are always favourites among customers are among flowers arriving at The Flower Shop.
As the wedding season gets into full swing the team there is busy with arrangements ordered for special celebrations.

New on the menu at Hartfields
New at lunchtime are Smoked Salmon and Crayfish Risotto, with dill, lemon and watercress; Linguine Primavera, with broccoli, spinach, pea, courgette, spring onion, and creme fraiche; Slow Roast Pork Belly Hash, with black pudding, apple leek, saute potato, fried egg; and Ham, Eggs and Hand Cut Chips, with Hartfields piccalilli and mixed salad.
There’s a new salad too: Roasted Peppers, Halloumi and Avocado Super Salad with spinach, watrcress, tabbouleh, and pumpkin seeds and a new bruschetta sharing board, see below.
Bedding and vegetable plants at Staverton Nursery
Bedding plants – which still need protecting from frost – and vegetable plants, including tomato, are now available at Staverton Nursery.
Fruit trees are in blossom, hanging baskets are growing on, and there are plenty of perennials to choose from too.

Ever heard of rugs being made from recycled plastic bottles? You can find some at Carvills.

Look out for KAPOW window at St Wilfrid’s Hospice charity shop
St Wilfrid’s Hospice at Eastbourne is organising a KAPOW fund-raising event next month and its Uckfield charity shop will be publicising the event in its window at 25 High Street.
KAPOW takes place on Saturday, June 9, at Hampden Park where participants will be encouraged to climb, bounce, slide, tumble and event fly to the finish line dressed as your favourite superhero.
The event is suitable for adults and children over the minimum height of four foot and aged eight or over. Participants under the age of 16 must take part with a registered adult. Learn more and register to take part here on the St Wilfrid’s Hospice website.
