Plans for new George Moss shop take shape
A planning application has been submitted for the former Noble Wines shop in Uckfield High Street to be turned into a jewellers.
Rob Suckling, director at George Moss, currently based at 100c High Street, is hoping to move to the new premises either in late October or in January 2018.
He says final designs for the new premises are now being prepared and they will be displayed in the window within the next three or four weeks with feedback from the public welcomed.
He said: “We will have more space allowing us to place more emphasis on our core skills which are product design, pre-owned jewellery, and customer service.”
There will be a VIP area, areas where customers can sit down and it will be possible to introduce more aids to assist with bespoke design of jewellery.
Rob said: “It will be a far better environment all round.”
New range of party-ware at Josefina
A new range of party-ware can be found at Josefina in Uckfield. There are fun banners and rosettes in peach and rose gold for the bride-to-be and the happy couple and also giant party and happy birthday balloons. See below:
A sale at Josefina was a huge success and empty shelves were being re-stocked yesterday. New suppliers of gift-ware have been found in Belgium and Holland, so it is worth calling in for a first look at what is available.
Summer sale now on at Carvills
Carvills summer sale is under way with 20% off all fabrics and wallpapers to order.
There are also “fantastic reductions” on bedding and towels, pictures, furniture, lighting, giftware … and even Christmas items.
The sale ends on Saturday, August 12, and after that new stock will be displayed.
New on the menu at Hartfield
New meals on the menu at Hartfields include pan-fried lamb cutlets with a roasted veg cous cousin and yoghurt tzatziki and pork and chorizo burger with apple mayonnaise and sweet potato fries.
A new dessert is Prosecco poached peaches with a vanilla cream.
Look out for a water melon, strawberry and lime crush too where you can choose to add Havana Club.
Sale under way at Chapter Three
A clearance sale is under way at Chapter Three to make room for new autumn and winter lines.
It includes clothing and some accessories. Also all the jewellery in the boutique’s “bling cabinet” is reduced by 50% as that cabinet is to be replace by new clothing rails. Eventually the cabinet itself will be for sale – if you are interested in it call in and have a word with shop owner Kay Bevan.

Summer clothing and sandals at Chestnut Tree charity shop
Summer clothing and sandals are constantly being added to the variety being sold at the Chestnut Tree Children’s Hospice charity shop in Uckfield High Street. You are welcome to call in regularly to see what is available.
The shop is looking for volunteers at the moment and if you would like to join the team please pop in to see manager Angie Page.
Angie would be particularly pleased to hear from anyone with fashion flair who would be interested in helping occasionally with shop and window displays.
School shoes available at Final Score sports shop
Final Score have leather school shoes from Gala in stock at £30 a pair. Shop owner Stephen Holliday says that means you can buy trainers, boots, shin pads, hockey sticks, shorts, socks, AND school shoes all in one go.

Mowers are selling well at PP Estates but as the end of season approaches special deals are available and it is worth asking about them.
The business is turning its thoughts to autumn now and stocking up on chippers, chain saws, hedge cutters, leaf blowers.
An experienced mechanic has now joined PP Estates in the workshop. Tim Best has previously worked at Mower Services Crowborough and Culverwells, Lewes.
Mural takes shape inside Kilnwood Studio
Make sure to look out for a ‘family tree’ taking shape on the wall of Kilnwood Studio at the top of Uckfield High Street.
Lisa Todhunter, who runs the studio with Teresa Smith, is painting the tree and customers are being asked to add their names and fingerprints to ‘acorns’ that will be attached to it.
Lisa said: “Our aim is to get the community involved through asking our customers to add their own fingerprint acorn. Once done, people who have taken part will be offered a 10% discount on a return trip here.
“It will be fun to watch the tree grow at the same time as our business grows. We want to get a lot of people involved.”

Summer sale at SG Home Interiors
A summer sale is under way at SG Home Interiors with lots of sofas included at discount prices including from the Rom range.
