Update on March 8, 2018: Compass Travel has been awarded a contract to run the 231 Uckfield-Heathfield-Etchingham bus service. They will take over from Tuesday, April 3, after the Easter weekend.
The contract was awarded by East Sussex County Council which funds the service.
It is understood the service will be reduced in frequency, from hourly to two hourly but continue to run Monday to Friday and not on Bank Holidays.
A new timetable will be available shortly, according to the Compass Travel website.
From an Uckfield News story on January 11, 2018: Two Uckfield bus routes are affected by a decision by Seaford and District to withdraw from running daytime services.
Changes to the 231 service, Uckfield – Framfield – Heathfield – Burwash – Etchingham, are not expected until March 31, when the contract for the East Sussex County Council-funded service is due to end.
The council warns: “The replacement service may not be as comprehensive as the current provision (Seaford and District currently provide an improved hourly service between Uckfield and Heathfield).
The other route, the 261 Uckfield to East Grinstead bus service, has been taken over by Compass Travel Sussex.
Compass took over on Monday (January 8), from Seaford and District but says there will be no changes to timetables or fares on the service.
The 261 goes to East Grinstead via Nutley and Forest Row.
Compass have also taken over the 228/229 Crowborough to Tunbridge Wells route.
• Compass have run the 261 service before. Our picture of the 261 at Uckfield Bus Station was taken in 2013.
It is also worth noting there are minor timing changes to the following Brighton and Hove buses services on Saturday and Sunday mornings from January 14.:
