Grand torchlight procession
The grand torchlight procession is scheduled to begin in Grange Road at 7.30pm.
It will make it way down the High Street, across the River Uck into New Town. The route goes via New Place, Harcourt Road, Vernon Road Road, Selby Road, and into Framfield Road before it goes back up the High Street. The final torchlight procession begins in Southview Drive at 9pm.
Uckfield Carnival marks the start of the Sussex Bonfire season and this year’s is the 190th organised by the Uckfield Carnival and Bonfire Society.
Bonfire prayers will take place outside the Cinque Ports Club at 9.10pm and presentations will be made at 10pm at the Civic Centre.
Bonfire society chairman Jackie Love says in the programme that new members have joined this year and says she hopes they have open arms “so we can fill them with torches and keep this incredible Sussex tradition going strong”.
She adds that 190th UBCS badges are being sold to mark the anniversary and asks that people support them by buying a badge.
She concludes: “So Uckfield and our supporting communities, here’s to a fantastic event, please enjoy, please keep safe and respect others watching and let’s raise as much as we can for charities in our area. We, of course, will always burn for charity.”
