Customers joined staff to celebrate refurbishment of Claire Davies Hairdressing salon in Bell Walk, Uckfield, last night.
There were bubbles and nibbles for guests along with a slice of a cake made by artistic director Maria Valancio who is known for her special creations.
Back in 2015 when the salon celebrated its 20th anniversary Maria made a cake featuring chocolates being poured on to it from a box.
This time she chose scissors and GHD stylers to decorate the cake and added framed icing photographs of the Claire Davies Hairdressing team around the sides.
Claire Davies is delighted with the transformation of her salon which was achieved with the help of designers from L’Oreal.
The process began a year ago and tradespeople worked after-hours through the summer to enable completion with only three days closure.
The refurbishment has included new decoration and new furniture with bespoke units. One of Claire’s favourite features is a new display cabinet and drawers in the colour corner. Each colour has its own space in a mosaic display.
Upstairs has had a makeover too. This is designed to be relaxing for customers, a place where they can chill after having their hair coloured.
It is also where Claire trains staff.
Claire said the tradespeople were great being prepared to work in the evenings to make progress with the refurbishment without disturbing day-to-day running of the salon.
She was pleased that the prize of a cut and blow dry promised to the first
person to arrive at the salon’s party last night went to the wife of one of the tradesmen, Lesley Button.
Claire said: “She deserved it, she hardly saw her husband through the summer.”
Claire’s aim at her salon is to provide a comfortable and relaxed, but professional, environment and she says the makeover is enhancing that ethos. “I absolutely love it,” she said.
She added: “I want people to feel at ease, and that the salon is professionally run, with the girls well trained. People are welcome to call in and see it for themselves.”
