Now returned - the guide dog harness stolen as a blind man gave his dog a break on Luxford Field, Uckfield.

Person who took blind man’s guide dog harness gives it back

The person who took a guide dog harness when the blind owner gave his dog the freedom to play on Luxford field, Uckfield, on Christmas Eve has returned it.

The blind man says the harness was returned in the park on Monday morning.

“The perpetrator approached me in the park, came clean, then went and fetched it from their house.

“It must have been playing on their conscience.

Thanks

“Please pass on my thanks to all those in Uckfield who spread the word in order to facilitate this final outcome.

“A perfect example of community spirit where, when we stick together, good things can happen.”

The harness owner had appealed on Uckfield News for the harness to be returned because it was impossible for him to be guided by the dog without it.

Struggled

After the theft he struggled to Tesco to see if the harness had been handed in there and had to seek extra help to get home as the High Street was packed with Christmas shoppers and he was walking into everyone.

The blind man was delighted by the outcome. “All thanks to your article and the power of the internet. Many thanks for running the story.”
