Tarmac filler in Uckfield High Street to be replaced with sandstone slabs

Sandstone paving slabs damaged in the course of emergency work at the bottom of Uckfield High Street are to be replaced.

Eyebrows have been raised about a tarmac filler used outside Peacocks but that will be disappearing in the next few weeks.

An East Sussex County Council spokesman said the paving slabs were damaged during emergency work carried out by UK Power Networks and so temporary repairs were carried out.

But they have bought replacement paving stones from the council and these will be “appropriately installed”.
