Strongman Paul enters competition to raise funds for charity

Buxted man Paul Price is entering a strongman competition to raise funds for a mental health charity.

Paul, 36, started to get interested in strongman competitions when he returned to the gym after being told exercise would be good for his mental health.

He discovered he had a talent for lifting heavy weights and now trains about four times a week at The Iron House gym on the Bellbrook Estate, Uckfield.

Paul Price tests his strength.

Paul, who is married to Vicky and has two children, has suffered from depression and psychosis since around 2010. This became worse in 2012 but, having started at the gym in 2014, he is now well on the road to recovery and wants to give something back to help others.

He has set up a JustGiving page and would welcome donations. There will also be a charity pot at The Iron House.

Paul Price will be raising funds for a mental health charity when he takes part in a strongman competition in March.

The strongman competition will be held on Saturday, March 25, at Zeus gym in Hastings. Events will include an overhead medley, 200kg deadlift for reps, Conans Wheel, Yoke-a-Truck Pull, and Atlas stone for reps.
