3.30pm: A team member, from River Uck Flood Group is attending to a fallen tree between Little Horsted roundabout and the Highlands pub at Ridgewood.

Storm Barney is beginning to affect the Uckfield area.

A brief period of heavy rain and strong winds is expected to be followed by gales, especially this evening.

Gusts of wind could reach around 50mph, enough to cause minor structural damage to buildings and cause trees or branches to fall.

Uckfield Line trains

Train operator Southern has warned of possible disruption.

It said: “Severe weather is predicted later today (November 17) which may affect trains services across the Southern network.

“Customers are advised to check their journey before travelling.”

As of 3pm,Southern said it still intended to operate a full service this evening.

River Uck

RIVER UCK: There are no alerts for the River Uck. The river is flowing around the midpoint of its typical level.
