The White Hart in Buxted has introduced a steak house menu to compliment its existing country dining experience.
The aim is to showcase a diverse range of steak cuts, all cooked to perfection for you to enjoy in the comfort of a proper English pub.
Already known for dry aging its own beef, which concentrates the flavour and vastly enhances the texture, The White Hart now aims to stake (forgive the pun) its claim to being THE place to go in the area to enjoy an expertly butchered and cooked steak.
The 52-day aged Rib-eye is The White Hart’s flagship dish but you will also find on the menu British sirloin and fillet, an extra large rump steak and a mega côte de boeuf weighing in at a whopping 28oz.
Nick Lloyd, who is host at the pub, said that he is very excited about this latest addition to the culinary experience at The White Hart.
He has introduced more specialist cuts such as the Flat Iron steak and the Hanger Steak, which are popular in America, Brazil and Argentina, places known for the quality of their beef, which, when properly butchered and cooked, have a “superb” flavour
Nick said: “We’re trying to do something completely different. As far as we are aware no other pub in this area dry ages its own beef in house. There are good pubs, fine-dining pubs/restaurants and traditional pubs but nowhere that appears to have a name for an extensive selection of steak.”
Popular pub classics
Popular pub classics are still on the menu such as the Dry Aged Steak Burger (always a winner), Harvey’s Battered Cod & Chips (fresh from the coast) and Ham, Egg & Chips, along with a host of other dishes set to whet your appetite.
It is more than a year now since the Lloyd Family bought the pub and the changes are instantly apparent, from a warm welcome from staff as you enter, to the overall décor. The White Hart now feels like a proper pub.
Nick said: “The pub now it has its own identity, with a strong emphasis on The White Hart ‘country’ theme. The bar now has three leather Chesterfield sofas which during the winter months are accompanied perfectly by the roaring log fires.
“Now we’re into summer customers can take advantage of our popular beer garden to experience our intoxicating range of beers, ciders & wines or enjoy an al fresco dining experience.
“A barbecue kitchen area is planned so that summer barbecues can be hosted when the British weather permits.
“We are enhancing the car parking facilities to accommodate more vehicles and to alleviate road safety issues during busy periods. Planning permission has been granted and work will begin within the next few weeks”.
