Specialist care home in Uckfield could be turned into private houses

A specialist adult care home in The Drive, Uckfield, could be converted into two private homes.

The care home at 129 and 131 The Drive was last used as sheltered housing for six residents but is now empty.

The property was originally built in the 1990s as two separate semi-detached homes. There were three bedrooms at 129 and five at 131.

Number 131 was used as sheltered housing from 1991 and in 1993 number 129 was included within the scheme and the two properties were altered to create one larger detached care home known as Homelea.

A design and access statement submitted with the planning application says: “It is out client’s intention to change the current property back to its original use and to split it back into two properties for social housing.
