Work continuing apace to get the rebuilt Blackdown Service Station, on the Maresfield by-pass, ready for re-opening

Shell garage with Little Waitrose nears completion

The Shell garage on the Maresfield by-pass, just outside Uckfield, is on the verge of re-opening.

Work on the complete revamp of the site, which will contain a Little Waitrose and Partners shop, was continuing yesterday (Sunday, February 10) afternoon.

Imminent re-opening

Last week Shell told this website that it would shortly make a statement about the re-opening, which locally is expected towards the end of this week.

Plans to demolish the service station sales building and build a new one were submitted to Wealden District Council last autumn.

We reported at the time that a design and access statement submitted with the planning application said the fuel dispensing infrastructure of the forecourt was upgraded in 2012 and the “dated” shop environment now needs upgrading and modernising.

The project at the Blackdown Service Station was given planning permission on October 9.
