A stretch of road with a poor accident record at Ringles Cross, Uckfield, is being studied by East Sussex County Council for safety works.
Three-year crash data shows three serious accidents and three slight accidents in the road from just north of the entrance with Browns Lane to the end of Paygate Wood on the route out towards Maresfield.
Cllr Claire Dowling, Uckfield Division, (pictured) told members of Uckfield Town Council last night (September 14) of the work.
The county council lead member for trasport, Cllr Carl Maynard, had earlier in the day approved the project.
The current speed limit in the area is 40 mph.
Cllr Dowling told the town council: “£125,000 of public health money has been made available for speed management in the county.
“That’s [Ringles Cross] where we have the injuries. Luckily we have not had any fatalities. That is the stretch of road they are going to look at for a local safety scheme.
“It has been recognised that it is a dangerous spot and the Police are working with the East Sussex Safer Roads Partnership to see what can be done.”
