Check out what’s been happening on the Uckfield business scene during the past month – one firm has engraved benches for Lords Cricket Ground, another now supplies Laura Ashley bathrooms, and a third has launched children’s party packages.
There’s lots more good reading too in this Uckfield News feature.
Hallmark engraves benches at Lords
Skilled craftsmanship is evident in the work completed at Hallmark Engraving, Etching, and Signs at Piltdown and the company writes about some of its work – ranging from engraved benches at Lords Cricket Ground to memorials to fallen soldiers and civilians in Eastbourne – here.
Paul Whales writes:
What have we been doing over the summer?
We really made the most of the sunshine and being able to have all the doors and windows open as our production team were busy beavering away on many exciting projects.
From engraved benches at Lords Cricket ground to school honours boards, village notice boards and memorials to the fallen soldiers and civilians in Eastbourne.
Back in June we were asked to visit a local private school as they had filled up their honours board. The traditionally hand-crafted oak honours boards were initially made back in the 1940s and 50s and we needed to create a new board that looked like the original so it could be hung in the halls of the school.
Workshop director Kevin Oakley set to work using a selection of cutters, router bits and mouldings. Using nearly every bench and work surface in the workshop, every tool, and years of joinery expertise he very impressively created a new honours board that matched the originals beautifully.
The boards were stained and fitted on the wall ready for next year’s high achievers to have their names proudly entered.
Another project recently completed was an engraved plate for the Whale & Dolphin society. The local society that rescues whales and dolphins have awarded one of their members an incredible bespoke trophy.
We were asked to engrave a plate and fix it to the slate base.
This society have been involved recently in the rescue of a Beluga Whale seen in the Thames estuary. We were very pleased to have helped the society with the engraved plate and look forward to building a relationship with this locally-based charity.
As we move through the autumnal months many of our regular end of season sports clubs start to contact us regarding updated awards and engraved trophies.
We are starting our second year based at Piltdown and are excited to now be a member of the Uckfield Chamber of Commerce. I am keen to get out and about to meet more of the local companies in Uckfield.
