There has been huge interest in the news that preparations are under way for a coffee lounge to be built at Staverton Nursery, at Halland, near Uckfield.

Well-wishers were quick to praise the company in comments on the Uckfield News Facebook page. Follow the link to see what they had to say.

“Let’s hope that the plans go through without a problem. I wish them every possible success.”

Amie Cook said: “Really hope they get it. Would round the place off perfectly.”

And Kyle Rathbone added: “Can’t wait. We love visiting and would love a cafe to stop at too.”

Two Uckfield area pubs have plenty to celebrate

Two Uckfield area pubs are delighted to have had their work recognised by industry experts.

The Blackboys Inn has scooped three Harvey’s Brewery awards for Best Kept Cellar, Silent Customer, and runner-up in Managed House Floral Competition while The Alma Arms is celebrating being in the Camra Good Beer Guide for the eighth year in a row.

The Alma was also runner-up in the Silent Customer section of the Harvey’s awards.

Look out for Hurstwood Cider at this fair

Hurstwood Cider will be represented at a Country Homes and Interior Christmas Fair on the weekend of November 9-11 so, if you are going, look out for one of the business founders Alex Gibbins.

The artisan cider-making company is looking forward to the apple season. They buy apples direct from orchards across the South East and have their own cider recipe, with the exact blend kept secret.

SLM Toyota Uckfield general manager Paul Hardwell and marketing manager Mel Ball visited Rocks Park Primary School last month to see how grant money they secured has been spent to restore a pond.

Wealden MP Nus Ghani was impressed during a visit to Bluebell Vineyard as their harvest got under way.
