Fun dog show from last year's Big Lunch

Residents from two Uckfield estates prepare for Big Lunch community picnic

Residents of the Manor Park and Hempstead Fields estates have been invited to join the Big Lunch on Sunday (June 12).

The family event is promoted by the estates’ residents’ association and will be held at Uckfield Rugby Club field from noon to 2pm.

The Big Lunch is free and open to everyone – residents are asked to bring along their own food (no alcohol or glass on the field please) and to keep dogs on the lead.

Events will include Punch and Judy Shows, face painting, a fun dog show and the opportunity to “kick a conversion”. An ice cream van will be present and the club’s bar will be open.

Proceeds from the raffle and donations will go to Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

The last few weeks have seen Year 4 pupils at Manor Primary designing and making summer hats to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The winning entries (three from each class) will be on display and the winners will receive their awards at the Big Lunch community picnic.

Each year the association invites the school to participate in the event.

Previously pupils at the school helped design the Association’s distinctive logo (below).
