Professional dancers are coming to Maresfield to run workshops around the hit shows Wicked and Into the Hoods.
The workshops are being organised by Universal Dance on Monday, October 24, and on Saturday, November 12, and will be held at Bonners Primary School, Maresfield.
Universal Dance founder and artistic director Lindsay Willis says not only does the company have experienced staff who are experts in their area but they also have many contacts in the industry who they can call on for workshops such as these enabling children to learn from practitioners.
First on October 24, from 10am to 4pm, will be a workshop with Lindon Barr, from ZooNation Dance Company. This will be for all dancers aged seven years plus and the fee is £25.
Lindon previously ran a workshop with Universal Dance in 2012 when Graffiti had just formed. Since then he has danced for Little Mix, Rita Ora, Mariah Carey, Take That, Cher Lloyd and Coldplay.
He also starred in the award-winning production Into the Hoods Remixed by ZooNation.
Lindsay said: “We are very lucky to have him teach repertoire from the actual show which, if you have seen, you will know is a phenomenal show, with exceptional Street Dance choreography.
On November 12, from 10am until 4pm, there will be a Wicked Musical Theatre workshop led by Emma Green, college principal of The Brighton Academy who has actually performed in the show.
Emma’s other work also includes: Spamalot (West End), Grease (West End/UK Tour), Shall We Dance (West End), Fame (UK Tour), 42nd Street (UK Tour), Guys and Dolls (workshop). She has also been a dancer for Tiller Girls and Kylie Minogue.
This six-hour workshop will be for children aged four to 18, with a fee of £25.
