Update at 2.54pm Tuesday, January 12: UK Power Networks said 853 customers were affected by power cuts in Uckfield yesterday.
They said a fault on an underground electricity cable occurred at 1.33pm and engineers restored the majority of supplies by 2.09pm with remaining supplies in stages between 3.40pm and 7.11pm.
A generator was still in use today and UK Power Networks said they would complete repairs as quickly as possible in order to remove it. There would normally be a short power interruption, lasting a few minutes, when this happened.
A spokesman said: “We apologise to customers for any inconvenience this caused. We rerouted electricity supplies to everyone as quickly as possible.”

UK Power Networks is now saying full electricity suplies to the TN22 5 area of Uckfield will be restored by 7pm.
Originally, the company, said it had hoped to have the power reconnected by 3.30pm after a failure in a high voltage cable at lunchtime today.

Although UK Power Networks was predicting the electricity would be back on by 3.30pm, a reader has told us the power was still off in Alexandra Road at 3.38pm with reports also that there is still no power to the Bridge Farm Road estate.

Traffic lights now reported to be back in action. However, electricity in places such as Anvil Close and Keld Avenue are still reported to be off.

Electricity is off in many Uckfield homes and businesses.
Reports are coming in from across the town that the power is off.
UK Power Networks, which owns and maintains the electricity cables and lines, has confirmed the problem in postcode area TN22 5 was reported soon after 1.30pm today (January 11).
The fault was in a high voltage underground cable, causing an “area wide power cut”.
At the time of publication (2.05pm) the company had not been able to confirm when power would be restored.

The traffic lights at the junction of Framfield Road and the High Street, New Town, are off.
A reader has messaged us to say:
“Someone needs to do something at the traffic lights by Boots. That’s just an accident waiting to happen.”
Reports from the north of the town indicate a brief power outage with the TV signal cutting in and out.
The effect is more serious in the central area and south of the river.
