Police called to disperse youths at Fernley Park again

Residents report that police were called to disperse youths again on the Fernley Park Estate, Uckfield, last night.

And they add that damage was caused to a vehicle on Thursday night with a ball-bearing gun, or catapult of some sort, causing a back windscreen to shatter completely.

They say police were called on both Wednesday and Thursday afternoon between 4.30pm and 5.30pm but the police were slow to react and by the time they arrived the youths had dispersed.

Police have been trying for some time to control anti-social behaviour in town and had thought they were winning the battle. See: Police say action against anti-social youths in Uckfield is working.

• Commercial agent Chris Lawson said they had suffered anti-social behaviour outside their High Street premises at 10.30am on Thursday, April 12.

CCTV captured a young person climbing on to the top of their letter box, which is welded into a wrought iron gate, to peer over into the garden of Dawson Hart.

Julia Lawson went out to remonstrate with the person and they disappeared.

Chris said: “Their face shows up quite clearly on CCTV and so I will send a copy to the police for information.”
