Plans to extend cricket pavilion at Blackboys Recreation Ground

Plans have been submitted to alter and extend the cricket pavilion on Blackboys Recreation Ground.

The existing prefabricated ‘shed’ which is raised on brick piers with a lower level rear lean-to and side storage unit is said to need renovation and improvement to provide better facilities for users.

These include a cleaner and more functional changing/shower/WC provision, together with some elements to enhance the external appearance.

The proposals are to remove the rear and side elements of the building and construct simple additions.

A rear extension would be the ‘sanitary’ block with changing, washing and toilet facilities while the side would be for storage.

Inside there would be a larger open plan area and two smaller store areas.

At the front there would be a canopy to provide some external shelter and enhance the appearance.

Documents with the planning application which is before Wealden Council say: “It is considered that these modest improvements would create a better looking and more effective pavilion. It would enhance the appearance of the structure and be a positive alteration to the existing arrangement.”
