The proposal was for one three-bedroom semi-detached house on the junction, linked to two one-bedroom flats, over a parking area for two cars. The planning application related to land adjoining 1 Farriers Way, Uckfield.
Reasons for refusal given in a decision notice included the site having an adverse effect on the integrity of the Ashdown Forest Special Protection Area, Special Area of Conservation and Site of Special Scientific Interest.
It was also considered that the restricted size nd shape of the site, when combined with the detailed design proposed would result in a development which would cause unacceptable harm to the character and visual amenities of the locality.
Plans previously submitted for the site were refused a year ago having been recommended for approval.
