Plans submitted to extend and refurbish McDonald’s in Uckfield

Plans have been submitted to extend and refurbish the McDonald’s restaurant in Bell Lane, Uckfield.

A 16 sq m extension would be build at the rear of the building to create a new manager’s office and allow for the extension of the existing freezer/chiller.

Other changes would be the installation of new aluminium cladding to the roof, reconfiguration of the drive thru lane and patio area and associated works to the site to provide tandem ordering.

Plans before Wealden Council also incude the installation of two customer order displays and a goal post height restrictor.

Documents submitted with the planning application say methods and materials to be used were intended to improve resilience and resistance against the threat of potential floods and minimise water ingress within the existing building.

• During the floods of 2000 McDonald’s was flooded to a depth of six feet. It had only been open a year but the company was serving burgers again within a fortnight having craned a prefabricated building into place.
