Plans have been submitted to build seven new homes – six of them semi-detached – on land next to Blackboys Recreation Ground.
The greenfield site which is about 1.5 acres in size is described as being outside any development boundary. It is said to be redundant and currently serves as a paddock.
A statement with the planning application says:
“The overall guiding principles of the design and layout of the proposed development have been to produce a viable scheme for new high quality housing that has a minimal impact on the surrounding landscape, neighbour’s amenity, and the setting of the listed building.
“It takes design cues from the highest quality, vernacular builings in the surrounding area.”
The statement concludes that Blackboys is identified as an area “potentially capable of accommodating modest additional growth” during the next plan period.
It says key surveys submitted in support of the application demonstrate there are no technical constraints in relation to highways or ecology and the application site is capable of accommodating a portion of this growth.
