Joanna Barraclough who launched Pilates classes in Uckfield in October is starting classes specifically for men in January.
And she says they will appeal to people from all walks of life. “Whether you are an office worker, manual worker or elite athlete, building Pilates into your fitness routines delivers muscle strength and control, postural improvements, flexibility and helps prevent injury.”
She said Joseph Pilates who developed the discipline in the early 1900s was an ex-boxer who believed in using the mind to control muscles. His exercises develop supporting muscle groups and build core strength.
Joanna added: “Many successful professional sportsmen, including Andy Murray use Pilates as part of their overall training programme.”
The classes will be held on Tuesdays from 10.45 to 11.45am at the Elite Dance and Drama Academy, in Bell Walk. If you would like to know more or take up an offer of a free taster session Joanna can be contacted on 07711 093337.
Joanna will be launching another class in Uckfield on a Tuesday too for beginner/improvers. It will be held from 9.30am to 10.30am.
Her other classes in Uckfield are held on Wednesdays for beginner/improvers and for intermediates. There are also classes in Framfield on Mondays, including Gold Pilates for slightly older, less mobile clients, and on Thursdays when sessions range from beginner to advanced.
