NHS 70th anniversary event boosts first responders

Uckfield community first responders (CFRs) have benefited from a Ridgewood fund-raiser held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the NHS.

Event organiser Ben Cox presented the profit of £300 to the Field First (Uckfield) CFR group at a training meeting.

Ben said he was pleased to support the CFRs who are volunteers helping the ambulance service respond to 999 calls.

Recruitment

A recruitment drive is planned in the new year for the Uckfield team and the application process will be delivered through the NHS jobs website.

Team leader Derek Smith is keen to expand the present group to enable greater coverage in Uckfield and the surrounding villages.

Anyone interested should contact him on 07818673148 for further information.

Training

Ben is hoping to join the team and said he was looking forward to applying and undergoing training.

Derek and Faith Lee (senior team leader) expressed thanks to Ben for his fund-raising efforts.

It costs about £1,800 to equip a CFR with defibrillator and kit bag.
