New Standard dedicated for Uckfield branch of the Royal British Legion

The new Standard of the Uckfield branch of the Royal British Legion was dedicated in a service at Holy Cross Church in the town on Sunday.

The Rev Brian Wilcox conducted the ceremony which was attended by standard bearers from around the county.

The previous Standard was 35 years old and needed replacement.

Guests at the dedication included the county president of the Royal British Legion, Group Captain Derek North, county chairman Mr Martin Forde, women's section president Mrs Betty Underhill, women's section vice-chairman Mrs Diane Hill and Uckfield mayor Cllr John Carvey.

The Uckfield branch of the RBL meets every second Thursday of the month at the Cinque Ports Club, Uckfield, at 7.30pm. New members are always welcome. It is not necessary to have served in the armed forces to become a member.
