International flavour to art exhibition at Uckfield school
There was an international flavour to an art exhibition at Rocks Park Primary School, Uckfield, over the weekend with work by Australian children being included.
The work came from Wodonga Primary School in Victoria which is partnered with Rocks Park. Year 6 pupils from Rocks Park communicate regularly with penpals there and they are looking forward to a visit next month from principal Pamela Thibou-Martin to further embed the partnership.
Rocks Park has recently been re-accredited with an Artsmark Gold Award and all pupils had their art work imaginatively displayed in the biennial exhibition.
Displays included London Pride, a collage of London, the Olympics and various watersports events and took a look at India, Amazonia and Greece.
The exhibition was co-ordinated by artist-in-residence Tina Bullivant and deputy headteacher Karen Evans.
Guests included the Mayor of Uckfield Cllr John Carvey, members of Uckfield Town Council, goverors, parents, friends of the school and pupils.
Thanks to Ron Hill for the photographs. Pictured above with one of the art works is Charlie from Year 6. Below are Alison Ledward, David Munn, Roger Daniels, artist-in-residence Tina Bullivant, and deputy headteacher Karen Evans.
