Council decides against funding the post of Uckfield co-ordinator
It looks as if Uckfield is not going to have a new town co-ordinator to fill the role previously occupied by the late Barry Knights.
The town council has decided not to contribute to funding the post 'at this time'.
Minutes of a general purposes committee held last week say that members felt the money could be better spent on the town centre.
Councillors considered a report of a meeting of the Uckfield Regeneration Partnership and asked questions about whether the town needed a town co-ordinator. They asked whether the money would be better spent on a town centre manager once the town centre plan had been completed.
Wealden Council was to be asked to help with funding the post but town councillors were told that the district council was cutting back on such expenditure.
It was resolved not to support the post of town co-ordinator at this time and to advice Wealden Council accordingly.
