Plans to alter Maresfield store
The village store at Maresfield could be altered if plans to extend the building housing it are approved by Wealden Council.
An application has been submitted to re-arrange the shop and build a ground floor flat and first floor flat at 1 The Parade.
Documents say the entrance to the ground floor flat would be via a new entrance door on the front of the property next to the shop door. The entrance to the first floor flat would be via an outside staircase to the rear.
"The extension and splitting of 1 The Parade will retain the financial sustainability of the village store which is intrinsic to the village community. The living accommodation over will be sufficient for the owner of the store with extra income from rental of the ground floor flat."
