Chance to raise planning queries with council officer in Uckfield
A Wealden planning officer will be based in Uckfield for two days a week for a six month trial period starting this week.
The officer will be at the town council offices in the Civic Centre on Wednesdays and Thursdays and available to deal with public inquiries about prospective planning applications and enforcement matters.
They will also be able to advice the town and surrounding parish councils on current applications.
Cllr Roy Galley, Wealden Council cabinet member for planning and development said that if the six month pilot proved successful they would consider providing ‘in-house’ planning officers for other parts of the district.
Members of the public will be able to book an appointment with the planning officer on Thursdays between 9am and 12.30pm by telephoning 01892 602010.
The officer will also be able to help with inquiries from the surrounding parishes of Framfield, Buxted, Hadlow Down, Maresfield, Fletching, Isfield, Little Horsted and East Hoathly with Halland.
Mayor of Uckfield Cllr John Carvey welcomed the service saying it should ease people’s concerns about the planning process.
