Have your say on development of Uckfield Picture House
There’s still chance for you to have your say on how an independent family-owned Sussex entertainment venue should be developed in the future.
Kevin Markwick, owner of The Picture House at Uckfield, is asking people to fill in a questionnaire sharing their views of the venue and how they might like to see it developed.
He would particularly like to hear from people who aren’t already customers and asks what might make them visit in the future.
The Picture House was established as a cinema in 1920 and is now also known for live streaming of opera and ballet from prestigious stages across the globe and for live comedy at its monthly Laughter Lounge.
Mr Markwick is planning refurbishment and views from the public will help determine the amount of work to be done.
Among options are redecoration, larger seats, a larger lobby, a greater selection of snacks and refreshments and creating a more personal and intimate atmosphere.
There has been keen interest in focus groups being set up to look in more detail at what could be done and if you would like to be involved there is still chance to say so in the questionnaire which can be found here.
Mr Markwick said: “We already have a loyal following from within Uckfield and Crowborough and keen cinema-goers join us regularly from Haywards Heath and East Grinstead but we would like to know whether it’s possible to attract bigger audiences.
“Thank you to those who have already filled in our questionnaire. We would like as large a number of people as possible to be involved with planning the future of The Picture House and so hope more people will have their say.”
