Warning about bogus attendants charging for parking in Wealden

Warning about bogus attendants charging for parking in Wealden

A warning has gone out about a bogus parking attendant who has been charging £1 for drivers to park in Wealden District Council-owned car parks.

The council has put a reminder on its website that parking in the district is free of charge except for at Alfriston and Pevensey where there are Pay and Display Machines. It doesn't specify where the bogus attendant has been in action.

The warning says: "Please do not pay any bugus 'parking attendant' any money to park. If you are approached please contact us on 01323 443359."

The council says the car parks are free as long as restrictions advertised within the car parks - about duration of stay and size of vehicle - are followed.
