New Road in Uckfield is due to be closed this week while the surface water drainage system is repaired.
An East Sussex County Council order says the road will be closed from the junction with Lewes Road for a distance of 20 metres to a point outside Number 1 New Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents with an alternative route for through traffic signed via Eastbourne Road and Lewes Road in both directions.
The road is also expected to be closed for another two days between July 9 and 13.
