New tenants planning to open an Italian restaurant in the Bell Walk precinct have been given a rent-free period while work progresses on neighbouring Bridge Cottage.

It looks as if new tenants have been found for the café/restaurant area of the Market Hall in the Bell Walk Precinct, Uckfield.

Chris Lawson, of Lawson Commercial, which handles lettings for receivers there said a rent-free period had been offered while works continue at neighbouring Bridge Cottage which is shrouded in scaffolding.

He said two Italian brothers plan to open an Italian restaurant. One of them once worked as a chef at Luna – now The Picture House Restaurant – and so knows the town well.

New sandwich business coming to Church Street

Mr Lawson also said a new business selling sandwiches and baguettes is due to open at 2 Church Street, Uckfield. The owners will be living above the shop.

Former Simpsons shop has been let

He added the former Simpsons shop in Uckfield High Street had been let but at this stage he was unable to give details about the business moving in there.
