Traffic worries cotninue in New Road, Ridgewood

New Road safety campaign goes on at Ridgewood

Renewed attempts are being made to prevent lorries accessing the Ridgewood industrial area from the Lewes Road junction with New Road.

Residents have been concerned for some time that the prohibition of lorries using the route past their homes is being flouted.

The county councillor for the area, Cllr Chris Dowling, is working with residents to solve the problem.

Cllr Dowling also told Uckfield Town Council on Monday (September 15): “There have also been issues about the 30mph speed limit in New Road and as a result temporary reminder boards have been erected.”

Earlier this year UckfieldNews.com reported resident Sarah D’alessio saying that traffic calming in New Road was not working. She said it was a nightmare as vehicles used New Road as a short-cut between the Lewes and Eastbourne roads. Earlier story here
