Banking, travel, and dry cleaning, are just a few of the services available alongside those traditionally offered at Five Ash Down Post Office and Stores.
Banking facilities are more important now than ever since the closure of Barclays in Uckfield and the Nat West and HSBC in Crowborough.
It doesn’t matter who you bank with, or whether you are a personal or business customer, you can pay in and withdraw cash at Five Ash Down Post Office and Stores, check your balance, and pay in cheques – all the things that can be done at any High Street bank branch.
To make life even easier the post office and shop, which was given a new look when painted this year, now opens seven days a week through the following hours:
7am-5.30pm Monday to Friday
It prides itself on stocking locally sourced fruit and vegetables, freshly baked bread, frozen food, dairy products, and meat supplied by Bishops in Uckfield, along with an extensive range of grocery items.
“People can order their meat in advance and have it delivered here too,” said Maggie Dopson who runs the business with her daughter-in-law Kim.
They have teamed up with Bell Walk Dry Cleaners, of Uckfield, to enable dry cleaning to be dropped off and picked up there.
And businesses, as well as members of the public, can have parcels delivered to the post office and send back returns from there too.
In addition they offer a photocopying and fax service … and you can get your car taxed and pick up your travel money.
Maggie and Kim have been running Five Ash Down Post Office and Stores for 14 years and they are busier than ever now, offering a speedy service thanks to having two Post Office counters and a shop counter.
They are pleased with their newly decorated premises and say they will continue to look out for services they can introduce to make life easier for their customers.
