New bus shelters to be installed in Uckfield High Street this week

New bus shelters should be installed in Uckfield High Street this week as improvement works continue.

The bulk of work on the western side of the High Street has been completed and Civic Approach has re-opened to traffic. (Our picture above was taken last week).

Works between Peacocks and Rowland Gorringe is well under way and this morning Colas workers could be seen digging near the Cinque Ports Club.

East Sussex County Council says Colas will continue to work at weekends in order to remain on schedule.

Traffic will continue to travel southbound along the western carriageway of the High Street but the county council says there will be two-way traffic as far as possible to the north of the High Street.

Two lane traffic is still in place at the Bell Lane junction with High Street to enable vehicles to turn right into Bell Lane there.
