Team Harsa cyclists dismount at Papworth Hospital after riding 120 miles from Uckfield.

More than £3,000 raised in bike ride from Uckfield to Papworth Hospital

More than £3,000 was raised by Team Harsa in a cycle ride from Uckfield to Papworth Hospital at the weekend.

A total £2,744 was pledged via the JustGiving page of challenge organiser Tony Barber and was boosted by £461.75 in gift aid. The original target was £2,000.

The 120-mile journey was inspired by Harsa Parmer of Harlands Estate, Uckfield, whose life was saved by a double lung and heart transplant at Papworth.

The cyclists set off from Harsa’s home on Saturday morning and wellwishers travelled from Uckfield to greet them when they arrived at Papworth. All were returned home safely that night.

Tony had originally planned to undertake the cycle ride on his own but he was joined by members of Harsa’s famiy and by members of his cycling group. Also with them was Papworth consultant Dr Jas Parmar (no relation to Harsa).

Thanks to Harsa for sharing the photographs with this story.
