Malcolm Diamond is Chairman of the Year for the second time

Malcolm Diamond MBE has been recognised as Chairman of the Year at the 2015 Grant Thornton Quoted Company Awards in London.

Malcolm is chairman of Trifast Plc, whose Sussex based trading arm, TR Fastenings, manufactures and distributes world class industrial fastenings and associated components. The businessman previously won the award in 2012.

Speaking about his achievement, Malcolm said: “I am absolutely delighted to win this award again as it personally means a great deal to me. I am fortunate to be supported by an incredible team, and together we look forward to delivering on future opportunities.

“Trifast’s business model remains advantaged with continued focus on broadening our global footprint and, as chairman, I remain committed to strengthening this position with a combination of continuing organic growth supplemented with highly selective acquisitions.”

The Quoted Company Awards are aimed at high-achieving listed companies quoted below the FTSE 350 through to AIM and PLUS, as well as the entrepreneurs and management teams that drive their success, and the advisers and investors with a stake in their growth stories.

The 2015 awards took place at the Natural History Museum in London on 29th January. There were 11 award categories in total.

Malcolm had retired from TR in 2002, having been with the business since 1984, but returned as chairman in March 2009, in partnership with former long-term board colleague, Jim Barker as CEO.

The two spearheaded TR’s recovery and helped restore it to a leading market position through a three-year strategy which saw it return to profit by 2011.

During ‘retirement’ Malcolm took up directorships in the pharmaceutical, construction and media sectors.

He is described as a highly regarded leader with a track record for ‘getting stuck in’. He motivates his business teams to understand the dynamics of strategy, aspirations of the leadership teams and ultimately sharing success.
