Look out for Harry Potter characters in Uckfield

You might spot Harry Potter characters walking up and down Uckfield streets on Thursday (March 2) at the beginning and end of the school day.harry-potter-logo

That’s because Uckfield Community Technology College will be celebrating World Book Day 2017 with a variety of Harry Potter-themed activities and fancy dress will be part of it.

All students are invited to join their teachers to dress in keeping with the theme and after school there will be a Hogwarts-inspired banquet.

Other activities include a Wizards’ Fancy Dress Photo Booth, cake competitions, open to all age groups, and special guests to help inspire students.

They will include Cliff Wright, who illustrated two of the Harry Potter book covers, who will run an art workshop with Year Eight students nominated by their art teacher.

In addition former teacher at UCTC, and now author, Jenny McLachlan, will be running a writing workshop with Year Nine students nominated by their English teacher.

There will be a school-wide ‘shared read’ for students in Years Seven, Eight and Nine, with all lessons beginning with a Harry Potter reading.

There will also be assemblies with a reading theme for all year groups during the week.
