Long-serving Uckfield Chamber of Commerce secretary Ian Blackaller is planning to retire and a new person is sought to take on the role.
Chamber president Bernard Smith said Ian and the Chamber were synonymous. “They have merged into one in so many respects.
“He is the person most people contact about the Chamber therefore everybody knows Ian, and he knows everybody. That is a wonderful asset.”
Bernard said Ian had become a great friend. He knew how hard Ian worked on behalf of the Chamber.
The primary role of the person taking over will be to support the chair in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Chamber and its executive committee.
The successful candidate will have an outgoing personality, with good communication skills and be able to prepare agendas in consultation with the chair.
Computer literacy and some experience of maintaining websites and using social media platforms will be an advantage.
The role requires a commitment of 40 hours a month and carries a salary dependent on skills and experience.
