Lest We Forget bench installed in Uckfield

Manor Park and Hempstead Fields Residents Association has installed a Lest We Forget bench in Southview Drive, Uckfield.

It is to remember all those who have died in conflicts over the last 100 years.

The bench is on Wealden Council land, outside Streatfeild House. Donations towards the cost of the work were made by Uckfield Town Council and CPJ Field funeral directors.

Poppy Appeal results

• More than £15,000 has been raised so far by the Poppy Appeal in Uckfield, according to organiser Diane Ward.

Diane said more money is still coming in. She was grateful to all collectors and those who donated.

She added: ” I am so proud of everyone in Uckfield for all you have done for such an amazing cause, especially as this is the Centenary of Armistice.

“The collectors were out in all weathers, and on the last Saturday we were joined by members of the Air Training Corps. These youngsters are a credit to Uckfield.”
