Karen’s dancing raises more than £23,000 for charity

More than £23,000 has been presented to Chailey Heritage Foundation thanks in part to the efforts of accountant Karen Thorne who took part in a Strictly Come Dancing type competition.

Karen, and her partner Stuart Dawes, earned a standing ovation when they performed their dance routine at the Hilton Brighton Metropole in June.

They had spent months rehearsing and Karen said afterwards the performance was a memory she would cherish forever.

Now they have learned that more then £74,000 was raised on the night – through tickets sales, auction donations and bids, a giant raffle, and more – and the share going to Karen’s chosen charity, Chailey Heritage, is £23,567.

Karen is “absolutely delighted” and so are her colleagues at C J Thorne civil engineers in Uckfield where she runs the finance department.
