Jamie Bedwell wins his place on the podium at the Eastbourne Triathlon.

Jamie takes third place in Eastbourne Triathlon

Uckfield’s Jamie Bedwell took third place in the Eastbourne Triathlon at the weekend and was delighted with his result after a tough year.

He was on the podium with two professional athletes Lawrence Fanous, who competed in the 2016 Olympic Games and Sam Wade, reigning 20-24 British Sprint Champion.

Jamie said he had a good swim, reckoned it was one of his best, and after T1, the transition between swim and bike, tried his best to catch 2016 Olympics competitior Lawrence Fanous.

He went into T2, the transition between bike and run, in second place but couldn’t hold on at Beachy Head. He got to the top and was descending with Sam Wade. When Sam kicked on Jamie tried to do the same but couldn’t.

Jamie broke his spine, tore his kidney and suffered stress fractures when hit by a car on a training run in October but he’s building fitness again now and after the Eastbourne Triathlon said he couldn’t have been happier with the race.
