Homes plan for former Framfield Road, Uckfield, shop

Homes may be created from a former shop at 33 Framfield Road, Uckfield.

Planning permission is being sought to alter the use of the shop and basement storage area.

The plan also includes building a single-storey rear/side extension and internal alterations to existing residential units at first and second floor level.

The proposal seeks to provide four one-bedroom flats at the site.

A planning application in a different form has previously been approved by Wealden District Council.

Conversion project wins support

Uckfield Town Council plans committee agreed to support the latest application.

Cllr Barry Mayhew, Liberal Democrat, New Town, said: “No viable business will go there.”

Cllr Donna French, Trust Independent North, said: “This is the sort of property which is needed in the town.

Objection to annexe change

*The town council committee also supported an application for the construction of a 3 x 3m timber and glass garden studio at Coppinghall, 46 Church Street, Uckfield.

*Members agreed they should object to a retrospective application for the use of an existing annexe as a separate dwelling at 52 Manor Way, Uckfield.
